Wells Fargo is seeking a Fixed Income Strategist (Vice President) to join our Financial Institutions (FI) Strategy team. This role sits at the intersection of balance sheet strategy and tactical trade execution, acting as a critical bridge between senior strategists, junior analysts and a direct partnership with sales and clients. In this role, you will:

  • Drive Strategy: Deliver relative value investment analysis across primarily Structured Products. Will also have exposure to Rates, Municipal, and Corporate Credit products as well.
  • Optimize bank investment portfolios through complex balance sheet and investment analysis.
  • Demonstrate deep structural and analytical knowledge of Fixed Income Products, especially MBS, CMO and CMBS.
  • Facilitate Workflow Leadership: Mentor junior analysts and provide quality control on financial models, publications, and client presentations.
  • Integrate AI Force Multipliers: Own the integration of Workflows and AI Prompt Engineering to automate data extraction from unstructured filings and enhance analytical throughput.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to adapt communication to effectively engage with sales, trading, and clients including portfolio managers, treasurers and CFOs.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners and stakeholders, including internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Securities Strategies experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expert level knowledge of fixed income products, bond math, bank balance sheets, fixed income sales & trading or asset-liability / treasury.
  • Mastery of at least a few of the following (or similar) applications: Bloomberg, Yield Book, Intex, S&P Capital IQ, ZM Desktop.
  • Expertise in fixed income bond math in one or many of the following products: MBS, CMO, CMBS, CLO, ABS
  • Expertise in bank balance sheets, regulatory impacts, basic accounting principles.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in complex market scenarios.
  • Proven experience in AI Prompt Engineering and assessing financial workflows for agentic feasibility.
  • Progress towards or completion of the CFA.
  • SQL query or Python coding experience

Job Expectations:

  • This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship
  • Client visits are ad-hoc and can be up to 15-20% of work time.
  • Ability to work in office five days per week on the Charlotte trading floor
  • Registration for FINRA Series SIE must be completed within 90 days of hire date, if it is not available for transfer upon hire.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 7 must be completed within 90 days of hire date, if it is not available for transfer upon hire.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 must be completed within 90 days of hire date, if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. In accordance with FINRA rules, individuals who are subject to statutory disqualification are not eligible to be associated with a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. Successful candidates must also meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents.
