About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Managing Director, Real Estate Capital Markets Origination Director, to join Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Capital Markets Originations (CMBS) platform. This senior-level role will serve as a player-coach, combining strong individual production with leadership responsibilities to help drive business performance and team success. The Managing Director will play a key role in originating conduit transactions, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to the strategic growth of the platform. This position requires a collaborative, team-oriented leader who can mentor junior talent, influence outcomes, and consistently deliver results while embodying Wells Fargo’s culture and values.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and execute conduit (CMBS) loan origination strategy, with a primary focus on conduit transactions and select SASB opportunities
- Originate and structure complex CRE loans while developing strong relationships with borrowers, sponsors, and intermediaries
- Deliver consistent, high-level production and revenue generation
- Serve as a player-coach, balancing individual production with team leadership
- Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering a collaborative environment
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insights across coverage markets
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure effective execution
- Manage and expand client relationships across key markets
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Commercial Mortgage Origination experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- 7+ years of CMBS/conduit loan origination experience, including consistently high annual production and strong revenue performance
- Experience leading, building, or growing a regional origination team or office
- Experience originating primarily conduit transactions with exposure to SASB structures
- Demonstrated leadership in coaching, training and mentoring
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong track record of mentoring, training, and developing junior professionals
- A BS/BA degree or higher
