Role Summary

Perform fundamental analysis of the non-bank Financials sector to identify the key trends and the best-positioned companies in insurance and capital markets. Conducts interviews of company personnel on all levels, their competitors, suppliers, etc., as well as industry experts and Wall Street analysts; and communicates recommendations within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts primary research on companies and industry by researching, reading financial statements and market data, interviewing management team meetings, and visiting companies to gain a deep understanding companies within the sector. This due diligence will help support an Analyst’s recommendations for buying/selling specific stocks.
  • Makes recommendations to Portfolio Managers to buy/sell specific stocks that the Analyst feels will positively impact the performance of the portfolio. This requires good judgment on the part of the Analyst.
  • Positions ideas and convinces Portfolio Managers to act on a recommendation to buy/sell a stock. This requires the Analyst to articulate to the Portfolio Manager the risk/reward payoff of the recommendation.
  • Effectively follows up with the Portfolio Manager once they have executed on a recommendation made by the Analyst. This requires the Analyst to provide constant feedback on all meaningful changes in the “story” of the stock to the Portfolio Manager to ensure they have adequate information to make future decisions on the stock.

Qualifications

Required

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in the financial sector with a focus on insurance and capital markets.
  • Demonstrated passion for investing.
  • The maturity and judgment necessary to inspire confidence in high-pressure situations.
  • Competitive nature.
  • Strong interest in stocks.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills.

Preferred

  • MBA and/or CFA
  • Ability to evaluate and cover both public and private companies.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers

$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.

$175,000.00-$275,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
