About the Role/The Team:

The U.S. Structured Credit - CLO Ratings team is part of the broader Structured Finance Group at S&P Global Ratings. The team assigns and monitors credit ratings on complex collateralized loan obligation (CLO) transactions backed by broadly syndicated and middle market corporate loans, providing high-quality, time-sensitive analysis to the leveraged finance market. As a Senior Analyst (you will play a key role in driving analytical quality and efficiency, sharing your expertise with colleagues, and contributing to how the team continuously improves the way we work.

Impact and Responsibilities:

Impact: The Senior Analyst plays a key role in driving analytical quality and efficiency, sharing your expertise with colleagues, and contributing to how the team continuously improves the way we work. The Senior Analyst leads analysis on transactions within clearly defined criteria and frameworks and is called upon to advise on more complex or non-standard situations by applying structured finance experience and analytical judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed reviews of legal and operating documents to ensure compliance with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure, adapting to incomplete or conflicting information where needed and proposing options in non-routine situations.
  • Provide clear, constructive comments to external parties (such as issuers, arrangers, and their advisors), explaining analytical concerns and suggested changes in a concise and professional manner.
  • Actively manage relationships with issuers, intermediaries, and investors, building trust and representing S&P Global Ratings’ analytical views and values in all interactions.
  • Effectively communicate S&P’s methodologies and procedures, integrating and explaining complex information in a way that is easily understood by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in and at times lead client meetings and due diligence calls, asking probing questions and using your curiosity and prior experience to surface key credit issues and new approaches.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis and use this expertise to enhance the knowledge and skill base of the team by coaching and advising junior colleagues on analytical and operational best practices.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the analytical team manager, playing a significant role in initiatives to improve efficiencies in the CLO team and broader Structured Finance Group, including process enhancements, data or modeling improvements, and knowledge-sharing efforts.
  • Deliver high-quality analytical work within agreed timelines, leveraging the wider team to balance workloads, manage multiple deadlines, and meet defined goals.
  • Collaborate and engage with peers and immediate leadership, building relationships with colleagues outside your immediate team where appropriate to share insights, align on processes, and support cross-team initiatives.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

(applicable for US candidates only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is $110,000 to $145,000. Final compensation for this role will be based on the individual’s performance, geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 2+ years of relevant work experience in Structured Finance (CLO, ABS, MBS, etc.) with credit ratings analysis experience.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling tools such as Excel.
  • Proficiency structured finance cash flow modeling, preferably CLOs or other structured credit products.
  • Strong capability in interpreting large datasets, performance trends, and structural analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate and communicate complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work with incomplete or conflicting data and to make decisions within clear parameters.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining high-quality output and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross functional, global teams and to build trusted relationships that support collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or another quantitative/analytical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or CFA designation.
  • Familiarity with S&P Global Ratings’ methodologies and criteria for structured finance and related sectors, or comparable experience with methodologies at another global rating agency.
  • Experience representing your organization in client facing forums, such as issuer or investor meetings, training sessions, industry conferences, or webinars.
