The Head of AI and Digital Innovation is a senior executive responsible for leading BMO Capital Markets’ end-to-end AI and digital strategy. This role drives transformative client solutions, scales innovation across the business, and accelerates adoption of AI technologies to enable BMO Capital Markets to compete and thrive in a digital-first environment. The role is accountable for embedding AI-driven capabilities as core drivers of client value and revenue growth, with tangible commercial and measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Define and execute the AI and digital innovation roadmap in alignment with Capital Markets’ strategic priorities and enterprise objectives. • Identify, prioritize, and deliver high-impact opportunities across front-office, middle-office, and client-facing functions. • Champion the integration of AI into business processes to enhance performance, efficiency, and client experience. • Oversee the development and commercialization of AI platforms and solutions, including algorithmic trading, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and generative/agentic AI. • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and responsible innovation across the organization. • Lead organizational change initiatives to support AI adoption, including stakeholder alignment, process redesign, and cultural transformation. • Serve as a key voice to the Executive Leadership Committee, translating AI strategy into business impact and fostering executive sponsorship. • Communicate complex technical concepts and governance requirements to non-technical stakeholders and senior management. • Partner with data science, technology, operations, and business units to deliver scalable, client-centric solutions. • Member of the Capital Markets Operating Committee, contributing to firm-wide strategic decisions. • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion through leadership council participation. Qualifications • More than 15 years of experience in financial services, including at least 10 years in Capital Markets, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, or innovation within capital markets. • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives with measurable business outcomes. • Strong understanding of trading technologies, data science, and client engagement models. • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level influence. • Experience in change management, training, and organizational transformation. • Deep expertise in AI governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. • Advanced degree in a quantitative, technical, or business discipline preferred.
