Job Specification: Head of Valuations, Private Equity & Private Credit
We are seeking a senior valuation professional to lead the valuation function across Private Equity and Private Credit strategies. This individual will be responsible for building and enhancing a scalable, institutionally robust valuation framework across a broad range of illiquid investments, while serving as a strategic partner to Investment, Finance, Accounting, Technology, and senior management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the valuation framework across Private Equity, Private Credit, Structured Credit, and other illiquid investments
- Establish consistent methodologies, governance standards, controls, and documentation practices
- Oversee valuation models across DCF, market comps, precedent transactions, recovery analysis, option pricing, and credit-based methodologies
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to improve valuation systems, workflows, reporting, and scalability
- Lead the design of a target operating model for valuation processes, data flows, assumptions, and controls
- Act as the senior valuation partner to Portfolio Managers, investment teams, ECM teams
- Review portfolio performance, key assumptions, and valuation impacts with investment stakeholders
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to ensure valuations are supportable under GAAP and aligned with financial reporting requirements
- Support valuation policy development, model governance, and quarter-end / year-end valuation processes
- Lead engagement with auditors and third-party valuation agents, including support for methodology and model review
- Prepare valuation reporting materials highlighting key changes, P&L movements, assumptions, and conclusions
- Present valuation conclusions and key issues clearly to senior management and governance committees
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in valuation, private markets, transaction advisory, or related roles
- Strong experience across Private Equity, Private Credit, and other illiquid investments
- Deep knowledge of valuation methodologies and modeling best practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to present to senior management and build strong partnerships with senior portfolio managers.
- Experience building or improving valuation frameworks, policies, or operating processes
- Strong partnership with Finance and Accounting teams, including GAAP-based valuation support
- Proven ability to work across Investment, Technology, Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience coordinating with 3rd party valuation providers
Pay Transparency
The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
